Stories of Impact
This support gave me something that is difficult to put into words: confidence. It affirmed my belief that how people feel in a place matters, and that emotions, memory, and lived experience deserve to be studied alongside data and policy in planning. Knowing that others believed in this idea allowed me to take it seriously myself. Beyond that, this award gave me the financial freedom to pursue the work I truly care about without constant financial stress. It allowed me to focus my energy on learning, research, and creative exploration, rather than on limitations. That freedom has shaped the kind of planner I am becoming, more thoughtful, more curious, and more willing to take intellectual risks. I am profoundly thankful for this support and the opportunity it has given me to grow with purpose and confidence.

This scholarship is truly life-changing in that I don’t have to think twice about pursuing a career in a field that prioritizes impact over profit, working toward a future where our cities offer a high quality of life in every single neighborhood within them. I will do everything I can to pay this scholarship forward, doubling down on my passion for this work and learning alongside marginalized communities wherever I go. Thank you again for your incredible kindness, and I look forward to staying in touch as I embark on this professional journey.

Beyond the financial assistance that these awards provide, which is no small thing, I can't express enough my gratitude for the validation such a gift provides for students like me.

Thank you so much for your support. This award eased the financial pressure and let me focus more deeply on studio and research. It also gave me confidence; knowing that someone believes in my growth makes me push for clearer ideas, better drawings, and higher standards. I am truly grateful and hope to pass this kindness forward through my work and by supporting others in the studio.
